You Ready? Blogrush Phase 2 Means More Traffic.

I’m ready. Bring it! ;)

John Reese’s BlogRush is not even 30 days old and they have already done a major upgrade to the system.

You can check out all the cool stuff Phase 2 will implement at Income.com. My favorites:

  • Per Post Stats - This will allow me to see what headlines are being clicked more than others. Because with the Blog Rush widget, it’s all about the headline. You really need something that will grab the viewers attention and make them want to click. The ‘Buzz Meter’ is cool too, letting you know which posts are hot and which are not.
  • Bonus Syndication.. Weighted toward low-traffic members - I really like how John is trying to help the smaller blogs.
  • Better Security and Manual Review - Some people are upset by this move. I think it’s great. For any serious blogger, you don’t want to be competing for widget real estate with a bunch of junky, spammy blogs.
  • Widget Performance Monitoring - Again, way to go guys. I like how they are120widget.gif speaking to the fairness aspect of the BlogRush Widget. I had my widget placed fairly high on my blog, but have since moved it even higher and given it a bright stand out kind of color, to make sure it will get noticed. One of the concerns mentioned was that the widget is too wide. Take a look at the new 120 pixel widget they are working on. Performance monitoring will keep this fair for all. :)

So far, I have to say that I am really impressed with BlogRush. I’m noticing traffic coming from the widget, and this will only continue to increase. But as of right now, it is bringing me the most traffic from any “link from an external page”.

Although the dashboard isn’t showing the complete stats right now, I can tell you that I have a network of 31 and over the last seven days I have earned more than 42 000 credits.

Home with Heather, has not yet been hit with the manual review. I’m sure that as long as you are producing quality content and not just a spam site, your blog will be will be approved without much issue. But if there is a problem, John says we can resubmit.

In a second post on Income.com, John addressed some of the concerns he is hearing regarding Phase 2. I agree with someone who commented this blog in that 90% of the feedback is positive and maybe the 10% should look elsewhere for traffic.

One of the bigger concerns was widget placement. In my opinion, if you want to get the best performance out of your BlogRush Widget, “use as directed”. Check this out:

“PERFECT EXAMPLE: In the last 24 hours alone (since making the Phase 2 announcement and mentioning that users need to give their widgets higher placement) the overall click-through rate across the entire network HAS DOUBLED. This means that on average every user is now receiving TWICE THE TRAFFIC than they were before — and this will only get better.”

brphase2.gifI’m really enjoying watching the effect this is having on the ’sphere. And it will be really interesting to see what kind of traffic it does bring over the next several months as they get all the kinks worked out.

Are you displaying the Widget on your site? Have you noticed any change in traffic or anything else since using BlogRush, or since the announcement of Phase 2? If you haven’t yet joined the great Blog Rush, and you’d like to simply click on the graphic and it will take you through the signup process. :)

Expect the Best,

Heather, are you able to gather any stats on how much traffic you have received via the widget? Just curious.

YC - Just checking my dashboard it shows: “Your Traffic Last 7 Days 837″

I’m taking that to mean that my blog posts have been shown in the widget 837 times. Of course I really have nothing to compare that to. It will be interesting to see how when we have a bit more history with the widget.

    How’s it going for you?

I have a blogrush widget in my blog but I haven’t been really configuring it to help me get more traffic through the widget. It has been in my blog for quite sometime now and I am not so sure if I am getting any traffic from it. Maybe I have to spend time trying to configure it and see the result.

But one of the site that I have been using to track my traffic there are few visits to my blog via blogrush.

I am hoping that blogrush will give me more traffic as what I have expected.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed. I’m getting traffic but I haven’t been able to judge how great (sticky) the traffic is, just yet.

I have the same kinds of questions Susan. I see the traffic, but are they going to be repeat visitors and I want to start looking at ctr, stuff like that. But I like looking at numbers. :)

    Hi Heather,
Thanks for dropping by my blog and leaving a comment. I discovered Blogging Zoom two days ago. I am amazed with it. It is far better than BlogRush. It is a social bookmarking site like Digg, Plugim, and many more. It was launched in Public Beta on 1st of November, 2007. What makes Blogging Zoom so special is that after you submit your blog entries, you are promised to get better search engine placement.

I have been using it since Friday, and so far get 25 unique visitors, which is fine when compared to BlogRush. Plus they are working on search engine placement of my submissions. If you are interested, please read my blog post :

    Hi Mert and Welcome :D

So far Blogging Zoom is bringing me far more traffic than BlogRush as well. I’ll wait and see for a bit longer. Plus I like the community that Blogging zoom is bringing.
