An Apology…

Since some time before Christmas, I have really been contemplating whether or not I Home with Heather was something that I was going to continue with. This is not a decision that I have come to easily as you can see from some of my previous posts: Perspective, Happy New Year, and Getting My Groove Back. I’ve tried, but I can’t seem to get my groove back… :(

Home with Heather is just not where my heart is right now, and I am not the kind of person to do something half-way. And so with that in mind, I have made the decision to stop writing for Home with Heather, for the time being. I will leave it up for you, and may even pop in with a post from time to time.

This decision has made me sad, relieved, and excited at my new ventures. I would love to keep in touch with you through my MySpace page at http://myspace.com/wahmbuddy or you can visit my other site at Our Kids Are Special.

It has been a wonderful experience to create and update Home with Heather. I have learned a lot of valuable things, met many great people, and have hopefully been able to share some of that experience with you through my posting.

Expect the Best,

Monday Morning Rambling

O.K. - I don’t mean to be a whiner… but it is really freakin cold here!! Highways are closing, travel not recommended. Right now outside it is -28 C but with the wind it is -44 C

The snow is drifting all over the place. My driveway is one place the snow really likes to go.

Most of the schools in the area are closed. My kids schools didn’t close, but I’m not sending them anyway.

I guess on a brighter note, I should be very thankful that I don’t have to go out of the house today to a ‘job’ . I felt really sorry for the radio annoucers that had to be into work for 5:00 this morning… they sounded pretty cold.

Good day to stay home keep warm, and keep blogging. :) I can’t get out of my driveway right now anyway…

Alright, I’m done my little hissy fit… Not a really fun way to spend a birthday though :( Anyone want to come and shovel for me??

Happy New Year - Sorry I’m a bit late to the Party!

Well it’s already January 6th. Amazing how time flies. I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas and that you are all off to a great start for love, prosperity and happiness in 2008.

Since I wrote my last post Perspective, my life has been on a bit of a roller coaster ride. My son had started to recover nicely from surgery, and then BAM he started having a crazy amount of seizures. We’ve made several trips to the Emergency room over the Christmas holidays trying to get it under control through medication adjustments.

I’m very happy to report that I think we finally have it under control and in fact I’m fully intending to send him off to school in the morning.

As you can imagine Christmas was a bit strange for us this year, but it’s all good. I’m kinda glad it’s over and that we can start back to routines and normal. I can count on one hand how many times I’ve left my house over the past month and not been heading to a doctor. So tomorrow, I’m planning on taking off. Don’t know where really, and I don’t care… just out! :)

In my last blog, I was also talking about changes that I was planning on making. My intent was actually to put Home with Heather up for sale. I just wasn’t feeling that this is where I should be spending my time.

I’ve decided not to do that right away. I love Home with Heather, and all the great people I have met because of it. The look and purpose of the blog may be shifting a bit over the next while, and I hope you can bear with me through this period of growth and change.

It’s the start of a new year. I have MUCH to catch up on. I haven’t even had time to visit my favorite blogs.

Again I’ve been getting an overwhelming amount of support and concern from you my readers. Thank you so very much for your caring and concern. I did get to read those and it always lifted my spirits and made me smile.

I wish you a year of much health, wealth, happiness, friends and family.

Perspective

Firstly, I need to apologize. I have not been around or available for Home with Heather, or any of my online stuff this month, and for that I am sorry. I have had this blog post up, titled and ready to write since last Sunday, I just haven’t had the mental or emotional energy that I’ve needed to come and write it for you…
Some things that have happened over the past two weeks have really given me a new perspective. Let me try and explain…

I had to take my youngest son up for some day surgeries to our provincial children’s hospital on December 4. I was totally expecting that the surgery would get done, he’d be in recovery for a few hours and then we’d all come home - that day.

Some things happened… really fluke things that on their own would not have been a big deal but all together made it very difficult for my son. It ended up that he stopped breathing briefly, and things got very intense for awhile. The staff at the hospital are amazing, they sprang into action and were able to correct his breathing problems within a few days.

My little guy is a real fighter. We were able to come home from the hospital last Friday. He is doing well. He is recovering and everything will be good, or even better than before. (Insert: Mom crying tears of relief, joy, and gratitude as she writes post :) ).

That coupled with a few other events that have happened, have made me feel like I’ve been living a really bad country song for the past two weeks. Nobody likes a whiner, so I won’t get into that part ;)

When something that major happens, you really take a look and start examining everything in life (or at least I did).

I really think that my priorities have shifted.

Right now, I plan to just get through the Christmas season. A “Fake it till you Make It” kind of deal. As I’m starting to try and get back to normal and MAKING myself do things that are more normal, guess what, things are starting to feel more normal again. Imagine that.

Things happen for a reason.

I’m not sure exactly what the reason is for having my little boy go through the struggles that he has had to over the years. I see that because of the recent events in the hospital, the doc’s were able to find out that one of his medications was really bad for him and needed to be changed. This may not have been caught had those fluke things not happened.

Sometimes it’s hard to even think about the big picture. But it’s there.

One of the main reasons I blog, is to help people. I hope that I am able to do that in some small way. I’ve been thinking for a while now if Home with Heather is really the best way to do that or not.

For many years in my ‘off line’ life, I’ve been involved with kids that have disabilities. I’m really feeling pulled to help more in the area of disabilities, special needs, and medically fragile kids/parents. Since that is the hand that I seem to have been dealt.

I don’t know exactly how right now, and I’m not going to make any hasty decisions. But instead just take it one day at a time. I’ll take stalk and re-examine in the New Year. For now, I’m back… Kinda, Sorta and will keep going HWH, even if it’s not at full throttle.

I hope you understand, and thank you for all the concern and well wishes that I’ve received over the past few weeks. I also really want to thank all my friends and family for being there when I need them. You’re the best! :)

Expect the Best,

Monday Morning Ramblings…

Happy Monday!

My kids don’t have school today because of Remembrance Day yesterday. I don’t know how many of you are having a long weekend, but if you are I hope you’re enjoying it.

I’m looking at my calender, and we are basically already half way through November. This year is really just screaming by isn’t it?

I was taking time this morning to organize my week, and I thought I’d share it with you.

Some Things you can look for on Home with Heather this week:

  • Another Rendition of What Makes You a “Plugin Geek”
  • What are you doing to back up your system?
  • Help getting organized for Christmas.
  • RSS and Bloglines.
  • Are Forums still a valuable tool?

In addition to that, I’m still trying to work on my one year anniversary report of my online journey in hopes of helping other newbies. I want to have that done and out by the end of November as well.
In my offline world, I’m still putting the finishing touches on my house and loving it.

More importantly with Christmas just 6 weeks away, I really need to get busy. I need to have all of my shopping done before the end of November. My youngest is going in for some surgery the first part of December, and after that I will be pretty much homebound (more than normal).

buda-newborn.jpgWe are planning to do pictures of the American Bulldog puppies, they are getting so cute. I was to visit them yesterday, they’re running all over the place AND they have puppy breath. I LOVE puppy breath. They’ll be 4 weeks old tomorrow. Keep an eye on Bridge city Bulldogs for those.

So that is what’s up for me. Busy, but good. How about you? Is your life starting to get crazy with the holidays coming?

Make it a great week my friends…

There’s no place like home.. there’s no place like home….there’s…..

I feel like Dorothy :D

Just a very quick note to say:

It’s MOVING home day today.

My renovation is complete to the point where I can safely move my kids and animals back home and survive. Maybe even cook them a meal.

I’m very excited, but a bit sad as well. I’ve spent the last month with my mother, and it’s been kind of fun. Last night as I was packing all our things in preparation, I got to thinking how we get so busy sometimes that even when we are in the same house we can forget to spend time with one another. The last 3 or 4 days, I’ve tried to make a real point of spending extra time with mom. It’s not like I’m moving across country, in fact we are only a few blocks from each other and we probably visit more when we are each in our own home anyway.

Putting 2 very independent (dare I say controlling) women under one roof for an entire month could have been such a train wreck. Thankfully mom and I have always been friends too, and so we were able to work this out with ease.

Thanks mom, for putting up with us… mostly my dog Takara. ;) I’ll replace that stuff, promise!

Life will be getting back to normal… whatever normal is (it’s been a while :) )

As I sit here this morning, trying to post something of substance for you, I can’t do it. My brain is just in a big moving fog, it’s like I’m having tunnel vision to get home. So please excuse me for that and know that I will get back to regular posting very, very soon

Anyway, I’ll tell you all about it tonight but in the meantime I just wanted to say that I’ll be offline for the day. I have to get moved back and then get my new computer connection up and running. If there are no issues with that, I’ll blog to you tonight ;)

Project Update: O What a Beautiful Morning….

It started off at 5:03 AM with a phone call from my friend Linda and she says “She’s had two pups”. “OK, I’m on my way” I said. Thankfully I’m staying at my mother’s house due to my renovation and so I kind of have a built in babysitter. We had figured it would be a middle of the night delivery.

I get stuff ready for the kids to get off to school, and then take off to Linda’s house. We waited for an hour for the next pup to be born. It was a stillborn, poor baby. The rest of the pups started coming very quickly… 15 minutes apart. Poor Budabelly, this is her first time being a mom. After 6 she was really tired and needed some rest so didn’t deliver number 7 for about an hour. It was a bit labored in breathing, but I managed to pull it through and now it’s squirming all over the place.
