You’ve Got to Make them Want to Read On. But How?
Copywriting is a tricky form of art. Some bloggers just have it. Others really just don’t.
In order to be a great Internet Marketer, Blogger, Network Marketer, or anything else online, we need to first learn the art of copywriting.
Copywriting is simply writing copy that makes the reader want to read on. But How do we do that?
I’m spending a lot of time to research, study, and learn effective copywriting. I’d like to share with you as I do.
Starting at the beginning and heading down to the end of every post, article, or sales page. What are the key components that will get the reader to read on?
- Effective headlines - If you don’t get this right, you may as well stop writing and go for lunch or something. There is an 80/20 rule of thumb. 80% of your readers will read the headline, and only 2 will go on to read the rest of the copy.
- The copy should have a clear purpose. What do you want the reader to learn or do after reading it?
- Don’t write a book. Give enough material to cover the purpose in detail, but don’t ramble or continue even one sentence longer.
- Structure the copy so that it is easy to read. Highlight areas that you want to emphasize and always give main points and then follow it up with detail and facts.
- Do not be monotone, or boring! Let some personality come through in your writing. People can get the information anywhere. They’re reading your, and haven’t clicked away yet (that’s because they like your style).
- Be specific and be able to back it up. Nobody wants to read false information, just because it sounds better in the post.
- Don’t leave the reader hanging. Come to a point. Size it up with a quick review and then boldly and clearly tell the reader what they need to do, and why.
There is an overwhelming amount of information available today on every topic you could possibly hope to imagine.
If you want visitors to keep coming back to your information, you’ve got to make them want to.
