How to Save Money on Household

Water is a precious commodity and shouldn’t be wasted. Here are some common sense ways to save water:

1. Repair all dripping faucets and running toilets immediately.

2. Showers can get you clean while using quite a bit less water than a tub bath. However, not if you take long showers. Limit your shower to the time it takes for lather up, wash down, and rinse off.

3. Install water saver showerheads. They can be inexpensive and ea6y to install. While they may take a little while to get used to, water use can be reduced by 50 percent and still produce an invigorating spray.

4. Turn off the water while brushing your teeth. Wet the toothbrush and then use a glass of water to rinse with.

5. When shaving, lather up and then turn the water off until rinsing off your face.

6. Remember that the toilet is not a wastebasket. So don’t flush each time you drop in a tissue, cigarette butt, dead bug, or bit of trash.

7. Don’t run the dishwasher or clothes washer until you have a full load.

8. When washing the car, use a bucket of water with the cleaner. Then rinse it off with a hose.

9. Check your sprinkler system to be sure you’re not watering the streets or sidewalks.

10. Water plants and lawn only when there is a need, not automatically every day on a regular schedule. Also, water early in the day when evaporation rates are at the lowest.

11. Wash vegetables in a pan of water rather than under the sink faucet.

12. And finally, shower with a friend!
