Here’s Your Sunday Funny….
Well it’s been another really busy week around my ‘home’.
- My house is in total demolition. The cupboards have been ripped out and new ones are being installed. The bathroom wall have been knocked down and the tile removed around the tub. Hopefully that will be drywalled when I go and check today, the painters are coming in this week.
- I’ve been out and busy spending money buying new things for my home. You wouldn’t believe how fast things add up. Wow! And things that you never thought you wanted or needed. Having fun with that though
- My ‘roomie’ has been a very gracious hostess. But living in someone elses home is really not an easy task. Especially with two high needs kids and two high needs dogs. LOL - They are sure keeping me on my toes.
- I’ve been working more on my site to show off the new American Bulldogs puppies. That should be ready to go a bit later this week. You can check it out at BridgeCity Bulldogs
- I was listening to the radio when I was in my car on Tuesday and the announcer mentioned that it was 9 week from Boxing Day (Candian Holiday - Day after Christmas) Holy Man!! This year is just flying by.
As you know by now, Sunday’s are my day to relax and get ready for another week. I like to take some time to slow down, and be grateful for everything good that’s happening. And as always I like to take a minute to thank you, my readers for your continued support…
I found a few things this week that made me smile. Wanted to share them with you for your Sunday funny…
The first one is a bit of branding humor, that I found at philscan.com

Brand-naming: Even Coke can get it wrong
When Coke launched in China they naturally wanted to retain the ‘Coca-Cola’ name. There first attempt in Chinese was ‘Ke-kou-ke-la’ which had the benefit of sounding similar, but unfortunately meant ‘bite the wax tadpole’ or ‘female horse stuffed with wax’ depending on the dialect.
Coke’s second brand-naming attempt was more effective, using a different set of characters to present ‘ko-kou-ko-le’, which can be loosely translated as ‘happiness in the mouth’.
Coke isn’t the only company to have had problems in brand-naming in new markets:In Taiwan, the translation of the Pepsi slogan ‘Come alive with the Pepsi Generation’ came out as ‘Pepsi will bring your ancestors back from the dead’.
Also in Chinese, the Kentucky Fried Chicken slogan ‘finger-lickin’ good’ came out as ‘eat your fingers off’.
And there have been disasters in other markets too…
When General Motors introduced the Chevy Nova in South America, it was apparently unaware that ‘no va’ means ‘it won’t go’.
Ford had a similar problem in Brazil when the Pinto flopped. The company found out that Pinto was Brazilian slang for ‘tiny male genitals’. Ford pulled all the nameplates off and changed the car’s name to Corcel, which means horse.
