Hey Moms - Are You Ready? School Starts in Less Than 3 Weeks

Honestly? I’m ready for them to go back tomorrow. Have I starting getting them ready to go back? I haven’t done the first thing.

Being a stay at home mom, I love summer. In June. I plan to spend time with the kids, go camping, plan fun activities, have family BBQ’s, let the kids stay up late, not have a definite schedule…all that kind of great stuff.

And we did do that. But we’ve had many other trials and tribulations along the way this year.

I’m so ready to get back to the normal routine, schedule and order that the school year will bring. Although for us in September, we won’t be completely back to routine as I’m planning a major renovation and we are actually going to stay with my mom while it’s happening.

I’m looking forward to some projects that I have had to delay this summer just due to a lack of time. But I’ll speak more on those in a later post.

My question was: Are you ready for kids to go back to school?

I haven’t done any shopping for new school outfits. I haven’t purchased any school supplies. I haven’t registered my oldest in any after school activities - nothing.

We actually just got back today from the lake again. We will be home all of next week and my plan is to get it all done so that I’m feeling organized and prepared.

Do you have any special traditions to get your kids ready for school. Any special things you buy for them, or any special activities you do together as a family?

Have you figured out how to get it all done with out feeling stressed and broke for spending so much in one chunk? Summer seems to be the time of growing 3 inches and so by September - nothing fits them.
I’d love to do a brainstorming with other moms. Maybe we can share some good ideas.

Expect the Best,

My son starts PreK Monday! Man where did time go? His school offered the option to all parents to buy the supplies and kindermats for us. It was pretty cost effective and it saved the hassle of all the shopping. I know when we’re older though that we’ll probably opt to buy our own. I remember how fun it was when I was in elementary school to get all new supplies. It’s part of the fun of ‘back to school’…even smelling the supplies. That paper smell brings back a lot of memories!

The time just flies by doesn’t it? PreK, now that’s a hard day for mom.

My kids can spend hours arranging and re-arranging their backpacks. It is part of the fun of going back…

I plan to go on Monday and get it done. Our kids go back September 4, after Labor Day weekend.

    All the Best to you!
