Quality Content Writing - You Have to “Tell The Story”
Everywhere you go in the blogosphere you hear “Content is King”… “Content is King”… “Content is King”.
Then you hear people saying to scratch Content is King doesn’t work, it’s Quality Content is King. To which I 100 % agree, and I’m starting to understand…
You’ve heard me say before, that I’m not a writer, I’m a numbers gal. Yet, I get friends and readers telling me regularly that you love the way I write. I can’t figure that out, because I think I’ve got much to learn. I mean, I almost failed high school english, and it’s not like I’ve brushed up on my skills since then.
And so I asked one of my close friends (thanks Marg) and she said “You write like you’re sitting accross talking to me, having coffee”. I guess I do. I like to explain things, and tell it the way it is, and really “tell the story”. And I really care about what I’m writing, and who I’m writing for.
Tell the story
This week on the 30DC, and in other things I’ve run across, quality has really been talked about a lot.
Mike Mindel has been blogging the challenge. He put up some great information this week - So what is Quality Content Anyway? . In it, he goes into detail of what quality is. He talks says that you need to care about what your writing (I absolutely agree). And, he shows you how to layout the blog/post. Very Helpful!
In Days 21 and Day 23 of the challenge, Ed points out a fabulous example of “telling the story” with one mom selling some Pokemon cards on eBay. She’s not selling at all. She’s telling a story. Great stuff, and as Ed would say “just brilliant”.
Days 23
Seth Godin Speaks to Google
- You have to care about what you’re writing, and who it is for.
- “Practice make perfect” - keep writing, don’t give up. It DOES NOT feel natural or easy when you first start to write — keep going. It does get easier.
- Don’t write just to sell. People see through that immediately anyway. Tell the story, and write like you’re talking to your best friend.
Just my two cents.
Enjoy your Sunday.. It’s the last one of August already!
Expect the Best,
